Laser Therapy

At our facility, we utilize advanced technology in the form of Class IV laser therapy. This treatment uses laser light of specific wavelengths and frequencies to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes on a cellular level. Laser light has the ability to penetrate the skin and target underlying structures, which accelerates the healing process. This therapy is non-invasive, painless, and can treat various conditions by utilizing the wavelengths and frequencies of visible red and near-infrared light.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a safe and effective technique for managing certain musculoskeletal disorders. At Prime Sports Med, dry needling is performed by certified therapists and is a minimally discomforting procedure. During the treatment, a thin monofilament needle is used to penetrate the skin and target underlying muscular trigger points or knots to alleviate neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. It is called “dry” because it does not involve injecting fluid into the body.

Hyperice Heat, Vibration, & Percussion Therapy

Therapeutic heat therapy can help alleviate joint stiffness and muscle spasms by altering the temperature of the soft tissues. By using heat in combination with vibration, it can also warm, loosen and relax sore and stiff muscles. This combined approach of thermal and vibration therapy is ideal for warming up, recovery, and relief from muscle and joint stiffness. Percussion therapy, on the other hand, delivers targeted pulses of pressure to the muscles and tissues of the body, helping to relieve muscle pain, stiffness, and soreness, while also increasing range of motion. Percussive stimulation effectively reaches both the superficial and deep muscle fibers, providing comprehensive relief.

Graston Technique

Soft tissue injuries can be a major source of discomfort and frustration. At Prime Sports Med, we offer Graston Technique therapy, a highly effective treatment method for all types of soft tissue conditions, whether chronic, acute, or post-surgical. Our unique method and specialized instruments allow us to effectively target scar tissue and fascial restrictions during rehabilitation, leading to a faster recovery and greater success in restoring range of motion, eliminating pain, and restoring normal function.

Rocktape

Rocktape is a rehabilitative taping method that promotes the body’s natural healing process through biomechanics. By slightly lifting the skin, it reduces pain and improves lymphatic drainage. This method also helps to re-educate the neuromuscular system, enhance performance, prevent injury, and aid injury resolution by providing support and stability to joints and muscles. The taping technique also increases circulation, increasing endurance, and improving athletic performance. Unlike traditional sports taping methods, Rocktape allows for free range of motion. This taping method can be used to treat a wide range of issues, from headaches to foot problems and everything in between.

Massage Therapy Nampa

With an entire team of licensed massage therapists with over 40 years of combined experience, we can help get you back to your best! Massage therapy is a recognized healthcare option that positively contributes to your health and wellness. Our LMTs work with your body’s soft tissue to help relieve pain and stiffness associated with stress, tension, injury, and many other conditions or disorders. Each of our licensed massage therapists has multiple certifications and can customize a massage to fit your needs.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a therapeutic technique that primarily addresses musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying firm pressure through slow, deep strokes to reach the inner layers of the muscles and connective tissues. This technique is used to break down scar tissue that forms after an injury, decrease muscle tension and improve healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.

Cupping Therapy

Our licensed massage therapists utilize pliable silicone cups to create a vacuum when applied to the skin. This suction effect draws blood to the treated area, promoting relaxation and restoring balance in the body. We offer both static (stationary) and dynamic (moving) cupping techniques. The treatment feels similar to a firm massage and effectively reaches deeper layers of skin. Regular cupping can help maintain a healthy and flexible fascial network. Some local red spots may appear during the treatment, this is normal, and they will disappear after a few days.

Scraping Therapy

Scraping therapy is a manual treatment in which stones are used to scrape the skin to improve circulation in the area. This technique is used to break down scar tissue, trigger points, and adhesions. The therapy can result in light bruising, often visible as purple or red spots known as petechiae. This therapy can also help create a more conducive healing environment for the soft tissue.

Frequently Asked Sports Therapy Questions

At Prime Sports Med, we use a 20 watt Class 4 Laser from Aspen Lasers. Treatments are performed by positioning the laser handpiece approximately ½” directly above the skin and surrounding the area of injury and pain with the laser treatment beam. With a repetitive sweeping motion, photons of laser light penetrate the skin and underlying tissue and are absorbed by the cells that convert them into energy.

Laser therapy treatment does not require the use of drugs or surgery, so it is noninvasive and there are no dangerous side effects or risks. Unlike many therapy products that only treat the symptoms and mask the pain temporarily, laser therapy is able to treat the cause of the pain and injury, helping the body to heal itself. Laser therapy improves blood flow and lymphatic drainage, improves immune response, and has a strengthening effect on tissue repair. Research shows that injuries treated with laser therapy heal faster.

Myofascial Release is a manual technique that utilizes gentle, sustained pressure to address areas of tension in the body's connective tissue. This approach is safe and effective for reducing pain and restoring mobility. The treatment is performed directly on the skin, without the use of oils, creams, or equipment, allowing the therapist to accurately locate and release fascial restrictions.

We think RockTape is the best kinesiology tape in the world! It can be used to treat sports and non-sports injuries including shin splints, plantar fasciitis, runner's knee, and back pain. RockTape microscopically lifts the skin away from the muscle and fascia below, creating a decompressive effect. Benefits include decompressing swelling and inflammation, delaying fatigue, normalizing muscle tone, and distribution of physical stress.

Electrical Muscle Stimulation, or EMS, is the use of muscle contraction using electric impulses. The contractions are generated by a device and are delivered through electrodes on the skin near the muscles being stimulated. EMS has many benefits, including a strength training tool for healthy patients and athletes, a rehabilitation and preventative tool for partially or totally immobilized patients, and a post-exercise recovery tool.

The Graston Technique is a manual soft-tissue therapy that uses specially designed stainless steel instruments and a unique and effective form of gentle massage/scraping to deliver an improved patient outcome. Some common applications of the Graston Technique include carpal tunnel syndrome, fibromyalgia, hamstring injuries, scar tissue, shin splints, and neck pain.
