Sports Therapy

Sports Therapy Nampa & Caldwell

Whether you are a high-level competitive athlete or a weekend outdoor enthusiast, we have options for you! Sports Therapy can be done in conjunction with Chiropractic or completed separately. We have multiple modalities based on your symptoms. Our doctors will conduct a detailed examination and make appropriate recommendations.

Laser Therapy

We have a Class IV laser that uses laser light that is tuned to specific wavelengths and frequencies in order to stimulate metabolic processes at the cellular level. The photon energy of laser light can effectively penetrate the skin and underlying structures, which accelerates the body’s natural healing process. Laser therapy utilizes the wavelengths and frequencies of visible red and near-infrared (NIR) light to treat a variety of conditions at the source within the body through safe, non-invasive, and painless procedures.
Dry Needling

While the name of the procedure may sound intimidating, dry needling is safe, minimally discomforting, and often an effective technique for patients with certain musculoskeletal disorders. Dry needling is a treatment performed by our doctors who are certified in the procedure. A thin monofilament needle penetrates the skin and treats underlying muscular trigger points, or knots, for the management of neuromusculoskeletal pain and movement impairments. Filiform needles are fine, short, stainless steel needles that don’t inject fluid into the body. That’s why the term “dry” is used.

Hyperice Heat, Vibration, & Percussion Therapy

The therapeutic application of heat causes a change in temperature of the soft tissues which can help decrease joint stiffness and relieve muscle spasms. When combined with the benefits of vibration, localized heat helps warm, loosen, and relax sore and stiff muscles. Ideal for warm-up, recovery, and relief for muscle and joint stiffness, the combination of thermal therapy and vibration therapy is unparalleled. Percussion therapy concentrates targeted pulses of pressure into the muscle/tissue of the body, helping to relieve muscle pain, stiffness, and soreness, and increase range of motion. Percussive stimulation provides comprehensive relief by reaching both the superficial and deep muscle fibers.

Graston Technique

Soft tissue injuries can be debilitating and frustrating. Graston Technique therapy is successful in effectively treating all soft tissue conditions, whether they are chronic, acute, or post-surgical. Our unique technique and instruments enable the treatment of scar tissue and fascial restrictions during rehabilitation that allows for faster rehabilitation and with greater success when the goal is restoring range of motion, eliminating pain, and restoring normal function.

A rehabilitative taping method that allows free range of motion, Rocktape allows the body’s muscular system to heal itself biomechanically. By microscopically lifting the skin, it alleviates pain and facilitates lymphatic drainage. It also re-educates the neuromuscular system, enhances performance, prevents injury, and aids injury resolution by giving support and stability to your joints and muscles. Increases in circulation give endurance and improve athletic performance. In contrast, more traditional sports tape is wrapped around a joint strictly for stabilization and support during an athletic event. Taping can be used to treat anything from headaches to foot problems and everything in between.

Massage Therapy Nampa & Caldwell

With an entire team of licensed massage therapists who have over 40 years of combined experience, we can help get you back to your best! Massage therapy is a recognized health care option that positively contributes to your health and wellness. Our LMTs work with your body’s soft tissue to help relieve pain and stiffness associated with stress, tension, injury, and many other conditions or disorders. Each of our licensed massage therapists has multiple certifications and can customize a massage to fit your needs.

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is a massage technique that’s mainly used to treat musculoskeletal issues, such as strains and sports injuries. It involves applying sustained pressure using slow, deep strokes to target the inner layers of your muscles and connective tissues. This helps to break up scar tissue that forms following an injury and reduce tension in muscle and tissue. It also promotes faster healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.

Cupping Therapy

Our licensed massage therapists use pliable silicone cups which create a vacuum when squeezed onto the skin. As a result of the vacuum, the skin is partly sucked into the cup which draws blood to the treated area. We use both static (stationary) cupping as well as dynamic (moving) cupping. A cupping treatment feels like a firm massage. It reaches the deeper layers of skin, stimulates relaxation, and restores balance in the body. Regular cupping ensures a flexible and healthy fascial network. During the treatment, some local red spots may emerge. This is normal. The spots will disappear after a few days.

Scraping Therapy

Scraping therapy is a manual form of therapy where stones are used to scrape over the skin and improve circulation in the area. This is used to aid in breaking down scar tissue, trigger points (knots), and adhesions. This can cause light bruising, which often appears as purple or red spots known as petechiae. This also helps to promote a better healing environment for the soft tissue.

What is laser therapy and how is it performed?
At Prime Sports Med, we use a 20 watt Class 4 Laser from Aspen Lasers.  Treatments are performed by positioning the laser handpiece approximately ½” directly above the skin and surrounding the area of injury and pain with the laser treatment beam. With a repetitive sweeping motion, photons of laser light penetrate the skin and underlying tissue and are absorbed by the cells that convert them into energy.
